Frequently Asked Questions

Brittny is the owner and Creative Director of Homesmith Design. She has a hand in every design produced for our clients. Our team of talented designers oversee the finer details of the design and collaborate with Brittny on the broad scope of work.
The size of your project is the biggest factor affecting timeline. From kick off to hand over of your designs, the design process can take anywhere from 3 weeks for a single space to a year or more for a custom new build home.
We can provide you with a list of contractors that we have worked with previously, however, the client is responsible for interviewing contractors and do their due diligence in choosing the best fit for the project. The agreement entered into by the client and contractor are separate from the contract between client and Homesmith Design. Our team will provide the chosen contractor with a “Finish Schedule” of the materials chosen for the design with specifications of color, price, etc.
Yes we do! All meetings will be done virtually and we can execute a beautiful design remotely.

Every project starts with a free consultation where we get to know you and your vision for your home. Whether you are building a new home, renovating an existing home or just looking to refresh your furnishings and decor, we determine the scope of work for your project during this first touch point.

Once the scope of work is well defined, we send every client a proposal which is an estimate of our hours for design services.

Upon approval of the proposal we move into the kick off meeting. Here we introduce you to your lead designer, go over budgets and timelines, set up communication channels and start going through project inspiration.

Finally, we move into the design phase of your project.  We finesse the design layout of each room, create elevations where necessary for focal walls and technical components like lighting, build-ins and millwork, and pull in all the design elements for each room of your project.

Once the conceptual designs have been approved, we begin the process of ordering samples for your new build/renovation or furnishing/textiles in order to finalize everything in your flat lay/sample meeting.

When the design process is complete, HSD will deliver your completed designs along with a comprehensive finish schedule of the products and materials sourced for your design to you and your contractor and builder.

Our process is complete, unless you want to purchase project management hours for a lower hourly rate. These are beneficial and allow us to do weekly site checks for the project and work closely with your builder or contractor to answer questions and problem solve on site if any issues should arise.

For installation and styling of furnishings and decor a subsequent hours estimate will be sent along with the designs and finish schedule.
